The deceptively simply named ‘Bramble’ is one of the nouveau classic cocktail creations of the late great Dick Bradsell,  ’Godfather’ of the cocktail scene in the London of the 80s and 90s.

Famous for his Espresso Martini, which we are also proud to serve at Juniper Place, Dick created the Bramble as the founding mixologist genius-in-residence of Fred’s Club, a private members establishment in Soho in the 1980s.

It was inspired by childhood harvesting of fresh blackberries on the Isle of Wight and is like so many great cocktails, deceptively simple in ingredients sophisticated and complex in reality.

Below we are thrilled to feature a video of Bradsell talking about the derivation of the Bramble and showing us how to make it.

At Juniper Place, we of course use our very own Cygnet Gin to make our Bramble cocktails, so you might like to buy your own bottle of Cygnet to recreate the cocktail, visit: www.cygnet-distillery.co.uk
